Description

The Campus Service Department at Karlstad University is a multifaceted department with functions that are more service-oriented rather than regulatory.

The department is organized into three units and operates services within premises management, printing, cleaning, welcome center, exam coordination, maintenance, and security.

Karlstad University strives to be at the forefront regarding good pedagogical environments and a pleasant working environment for employees and students. The cleaning unit serves as a support function and provides assistance to all other university operations. As a cleaner, you are part of creating a good and pleasant working environment.

The cleaning unit currently consists of 19 employees working in two groups with their own group leader.

Responsibilities

As a cleaner at Karlstad University, you contribute to a pleasant atmosphere by cleaning all our different types of premises, which consist of both public environments and office spaces and classrooms. In addition, our cleaners have their own area of responsibility where floor care and deep cleaning are handled independently according to established work routines. Since the university organizes many different events, cleaners sometimes need to adapt at short notice. This may temporarily change the work schedule, tasks, and group composition. Collaboration between cleaning staff and the various teams is therefore a prerequisite for the work to be carried out with high quality even during these larger efforts.

Qualifications

For employment as a cleaner with us, you need to have experience in cleaning. In addition, we place great importance on personal competencies and will mainly assess the competencies of quality awareness, service ability, and the ability to be self-sufficient.

You take your own initiatives, work independently, and enjoy having freedom under responsibility. Since the work requires structure and planning, you need to be able to organize your work effectively while being flexible and finding solutions in unforeseen situations. Attention to detail and performing work with high quality is important to you, and you are curious to learn and use new technology that develops in the field.

As you will constantly be interacting with students and staff, it is important that you are a positive representative of the university. You are service-oriented and flexible, adapting to the needs of the operation. You master Swedish in both spoken and written form, are clear in your communication, and find it easy to collaborate. Sometimes the work may involve a fast pace, so the ability to prioritize is also important.

It is advantageous if you have:

• experience in service work in learning environments, such as schools, universities, or other educational environments where students/pupils and staff are present.
• good knowledge of the Office package, such as Outlook and Excel.
• an interest in technical aids in cleaning.

Conditions

The employment is a fixed-term full-time position from 2026-03-01 to 2027-02-28, or by agreement, with the possibility of extension. The working hours for a full-time position are scheduled between 05:30-13:57.
